September

September is a busy month. There are lots of things going on. Did you know September is:

National Library Card Sign-up Month

National Pediculosis Prevention Month (look it up if you must!)

National Read-a-New-Book Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month

National Better Breakfast Month

It contains the holidays Labor Day, National Newspaper Carriers' Day, National Grandparents' Day (last Sunday!), International Literacy Day(Sept. 8th), POW/MIA Recognition Day (the third Friday of the month), Patriot Day (today, of course), Ramadan, Rosh Hashanah, and Independence Day in Mexico.

Autumn begins on the 22nd and there are some very important birthdays this month: mine, my son's, two of my cousin's and my stepbrother's.

There are also some very interesting new inventions that have appeared in past Septembers: the safety pin, Scooby-Doo, the department store, and the first edition of the New York Times.

And some celebrity birthdays including, but not limited to: Mark Schultz, Gloria Estefan, Conway Twitty, Dr. Phil, Buddy Holly, Paul Harvey, Christa McAuliffe, Jeff Foxworthy and Jesse James.

whew! That's a lot for one month!
