We're in Kentucky!

We left for Kentucky Thursday night (7/19) after Jeremiah got off work. We drove all night and made it here around 9:00 Friday morning. We only had to make a couple of stops and had a pretty uneventful trip. To me, that's a good thing! The kids were really good. They slept most of the time like we intended ;o) They woke up a couple of times before we made it out of Florida to ask where we were at - only to be disappointed that we were STILL in Florida! They were also surprised at how long it took to drive through Georgia - and they were asleep for 3/4 of it!

We did a lot of sitting around Friday - taking turns taking catnaps throughout the morning. And Friday afternoon we all took a nap (kids included) until Grandma 'Tucky got home from work We then went out to eat supper at the Cantuckee Diner (yes, that is the name of the diner!) They had a buffet that was really good. (We don't normally do buffets for reasons I probably don't need to explain) But this one was good. Drake tried frog legs and liked them. Dakota was having no part of that - she ate her 8 oz. sirloin and was satisfied.

Yesterday (Saturday) my dad woke up having one of his bad days so we decided to take the kids to Fort Boonesborough and Boonesborough State Park. We had a great day. We got to tour the fort (replica) that Daniel Boone founded in the 1800s. The picture above is the kids grinding corn - okay, okay, so there was no corn in there - but they got the point.

Then we went down to the State Park and Drake played on the playground for a while. Then, after having commented on how many good hills there were in Kentucky to roll down, he decided one of the hills at the park was the one he was going to conquer. So, he climbed the hill and began to roll down it. He got about 1/4 of the way down and had to stop because he was dizzy. He decided the hill would have been easier to roll down if it was flat! I tried to explain that hills are called hills for a reason and it's not because they are flat - but he didn't care. He still wants to try rolling down a flat hill.

We then went down the path to the Kentucky River and the kids played there for several hours! I love free entertainment!

Dad has had a better day today. We haven't done much of anything. Jeremiah and Drake did go to town and get the stuff to redo Grandma and Papa 'Tucky's metal deck chairs. They have spent the afternoon sanding and repainting. I think they've had a good time. Jeremiah's also working on replacing the batteries in their RV. So they'll be busy for the next couple of days.

The weather is beautiful! Lows in the mornings/evenings in the 50s and Highs in the 80s - but with a cool breeze. Nowhere near as hot as Florida!
